Managing Stress During COVID-19
As we are home during this pandemic it’s important to consider and to be conscience of our feelings during this time. Per the CDC Stress during an infectious disease outbreak can include the following:
- Fear and worry about your own health and the health of your loved ones
- Changes in sleep or eating patterns
- Difficulty sleeping or concentrating
- Worsening of chronic health problems
- Increased use of alcohol, tobacco, or other drug
If you, or someone you care about, are feeling overwhelmed with emotions like sadness, depression, or anxiety, or feel like you want to harm yourself or others call:
- Call 911
- Visit the Disaster Distress Helpline or call 1-800-985-5990 and TTY 1-800-846-8517
- Visit the National Domestic Violence Hotline or call 1-800-799-7233 and TTY 1-800-787-3224

Here are some tips to help relieve stress and anxiety during this time.
Community Spotlight | Blanket Drive
Winter is approaching quickly! In the Middle Tennessee Area, we’ve already experienced nights with freezing temperatures. The weather can be treacherous for the homeless community. Often, we have intentions to give back to the homeless and to find ways to serve. I wanted to spotlight someone for not just “wanting to give back†but executing on it. She made a post the morning of November 19th asking for assistance from her Facebook friends to purchase blankets. Nine hours later she was able to purchase 126 blankets to give to the homeless. This is a great example of how a Facebook Community can come together for a cause.
Thank you Kaneca Oldham for this initiative. Facebook is sometimes looked at in a negative light but on this day, we banded to together to help a cause. Great job serving your Local Community!
